The product
How quickly will I know?
Checks run as often as your plan allows, down to every minute. A site is not reported down on one failed check — it takes three consecutive failures by default, because a single timeout is usually the internet rather than the site.
Will it wake me up for nothing?
One outage produces one alert thread. Reminders are off unless you turn them on, and escalation fires once. The default is a tool you can leave notifications on for.
What if the site is up but broken?
That is most of the point. Keyword matching, JSON assertions and a maintained list of crash signatures catch a page that returns 200 and shows a stack trace.
Can I monitor something that is not a website?
A TCP port, a DNS record, a certificate, a domain registration, or a cron job that pings a heartbeat URL when it finishes.
Working with clients
Do my clients see your name?
Only if you let them. Status pages carry your brand on every plan, and paid plans remove our name from them entirely. We never contact your clients.
Am I charged per client site?
No. You pay for your account, and the plan sets how many monitors you can run. Taking on a client does not change your bill until you run out.
Can I show a client only their own sites?
Publish a status page with just their components on it, named the way they think of them. They see that page and nothing else.
Paying
Is the free plan a trial?
No. It does not expire and it does not ask for a card. Five monitors, checked every five minutes, with a status page and ninety days of history.
How do I pay?
A card through Stripe, or MTN Mobile Money and Orange Money through Campay. Card prices are in dollars, mobile money in francs.
What happens if a payment fails?
Your checks keep running. Three notices over nine days, then a week of grace with full service, then checks pause. Nothing is ever deleted and paying restores everything immediately.
Limits and honesty
Where do the checks run from?
One place, at the moment. That means a network problem between us and your client looks the same as their site being down, and it is the honest limitation of the current setup. Multi-region checks need probe servers in more than one country.
Can I use my own domain for a status page?
Not yet. A custom domain per client needs automated certificates, which is a real piece of infrastructure rather than a switch.
What is the shortest check interval?
One minute. Anything shorter needs a different kind of probe than the current one.
What happens to my data if I leave?
Nothing is deleted when a subscription lapses. If you close the account, tell us and we remove it.
